Another cup or two!

What a fabulous weekend.
Good company, great ideas, new shoes, designing and creating, pub dinner with my love and high tea at the Tea Room, la de da!

High Tea is such a lovely way to spend an afternoon.
I love the beautiful crockery and the way the waiter runs around making sure my water glass is full. The tiered food tray is so fitting for the beautiful, delicious little food, just for us ladies!
I love the prettiness of the occasion.
I love the formalness, yet how relaxed we felt for the afternoon.
And my new self-made skirt escorted me on this lovely affair and of course, rose to the occasion!
I love, I love, are you feeling the love in this post!!
The last pic is of the beautiful wall paper - a snippet of the amazing decor. Whilst I enjoyed my tea and company I found myself lost in the surroundings, intricate ceiling detail, amazing light fittings, wall paper, colours and flowers oh my! so grande.
How I love playing ladies.

Buttons Baby

I finally built up my gumption and tried the button hole! And it was actually not too hard. I made a cushion for my son with two buttons.... pretty basic but he loves it.

I wanted to start with something straight forward so I didnt scare myself off the process, and it worked. Now I am contemplating all the different things I could make. I am thinking I will buy some sweet white cotton material and make my girl a summer nightie with a couple of buttons at the back. Sweet for summer.

The Master Unpicker!

I love sewing... I love quick sewing - all of a sudden you have something created in front of your eyes. I dont like unpicking!!!

A beautiful morning, I was all prepped to make a quick sundress for myself. After my last attempt at shirring, I over estimated the amount of material needed and the elastic was not as tight as I wanted. (for only a brief moment did I think about why people use patterns!)
It kinda looked like a moo moo!! So the unpicking began.............. and continued!
I cut off a portion of material and started again.
What was going to be a quick dress turned into a drawn out dress!
BUT I finished it and am very pleased with myself. If I had known what I know now before I started it would have taken no time at all. It was quite easy turning a rectangle piece of fabric into a strapless summer dress.

Now all I need is summer!

Little gifts for little ones

My little girl was not well today and so we had an unexpected day at home.
An inpromptu girls day, with a special guest pug dog :)
Not too much strenuous activity, some book reading, worksheets and fairyring making, what fun.
I also slipped in a bit of sewing! Some gifts today, Just some cute bibs and coathangers. We have friends who've just had a boy which inspired the blue theme and of course we will soon have a new gorgeous girl in the family which is inspiring my pink.

I have had these coat hangers in my craft supplies for so long and meaning to do something. I began with the idea of knitting a cover for them, which has been in the making for a long long time. And then today I thought why not use fabulous fabric.
I am really pleased with the way they turned out, they were really quick to make and would love to make some more for my babes.
I think my bibs are still a little rusty and will continue to make more and more till they are up to standard!!

Fast Hearts

"Can you make me something please?"
How could I resist this proposition! After carefully chosing her desired material, a cushion was decided upon. I had a bit of time this afternoon and decided to do a little sewing.
Something pretty was in order and I decided on a heart shaped pillow for my special girl.

It has prime position on her bed and she snuggled up to it as she hoped into bed, made my day.
I also finished the crayon roll for my boy. I used the material he chose which was fun. Im sure he'll love it and can colour his world!
I love that they are enjoying my sewing.... hope it lasts!

and another

Yesterday was a glorious spring (in the making) sunny day. I wore my skirt I made and felt wonderful.

After hearing the next day was going to be similar weather I decided to whip up another skirt to wear. It took me little over an hour and I stitched it slightly different with a little bit neater finish, though it was still a bit of trial and error. But it worked and I love it!

Go on try it yourself! Simply - Fold some material in half. I just laid a skirt I have on top of a folded piece of material and cut around it, adding a seam allowance. Pinned it together right sides facing. Sewed one side together leaving about a cm at the top. Then I pinned in the zipper on the other side and sewed the seam below it. I then sewed the zipper in, hemmed the bottom and top edges and voila a pretty skirt to wear.

I also couldn't resist making a pencil roll for my girl. It should be called texta roll as I filled it with her new set of markers. It turned out quite cute and of course I am in the process of one for my boy too, What fun.

it tastes like cow!

Five seems to be a wonderful age for my boy. He has finally grown out of his dairy allergy (one down, one to go!) and we are all so excited for him.
We were in the doctors room and he took his first syringe of milk and I asked him what it tasted like and he said "tastes like cow mum"
As we started to think about it, it is amazing all the things he will now be able to eat. It started with real chocolate, yogurt, chocolate yogurt, whipped cream, salt and vinegar chips, sour cream, those cheese supreme chips his sister has, cheese on pizza, a cheese burger, a FREDDO frog (didnt his eyes light up at this revelation!) I dont think he has ever shown a look of missing out as I always made lots of yummy treats - he wasnt allergic to sugar! but when he could start to think about it, boy was he excited.
Then later by myself I got to thinking about what we were going to eat and suddenly the list increased - croissants, caramel, cheese and bacon rolls from the bakery, Oh my!

His sister was very excited they can now eat the same things, she was so honestly excited for him, made my heart feel so warm.
Bring on the new food!

Sweet Success

My brother and sister-inlaw are expecting their first baby which has been inspiring my sewing and I finally attempted my first quilt. A pretty pink cot quilt. A good friend gave me the cutest sewing book for my birthday which had this pattern in it, and it actually worked out! I learned a few things along the way and ended up altering it and finishing it with bias binding instead of flipping over the backing for the edges, but that makes me love it even more.
Isn't it cute!

I have also been really keen to make myself something. I have a few different materials that I wanted to use and had been scooting around the idea when I realised, I was afraid to start because I didnt want to stuff it up (and waste material!) Then I decided I had to start somewhere! So... what to make. I really need some more skirts, I find I'm so fussy in store and never buy any, so what better idea then to make them for myself.
I looked at one in my cupboard I liked the style and length and used that as a guide.
AND IT WORKED!
I cant wait for the weather to warm a bit to wear it and I cant wait to make more!!

An attempt at a new biscuit range was my third success of the day, monte creme cookies. Delicious. Luckily I took this picture as they are nearly all gone!

A sneaky spring preview!

Welcome Sunny weekend.
Was so lovely to finally sprawl in the sun again, and we had such a lovely relaxing weekend soaking it up. All the doors and windows open and lunch out the back was such a welcome change. Check out the sun on their tattoos!

I couldn't resist sharing my sunday brunch I made for us - egg and dairy free pancakes topped with Maple syrup, Whipped cream (for those that could have it!) and strawberries. Devine.
