the night before christmas...

There is not a noise in the house! All is still and quiet except for the keys on my computer as I type.
The kids are in their christmas pjs and tightly tucked up in bed after enjoying a roast dinner followed by 'Home Alone" with hot buttered popcorn.

Merry Christmas :) to all xo

The special edition

My girl turned 7!
And as requested I made her a colour on the go BUT it was for my girl so I decided to give it a little difference. Two sets of colours, one side pens and the other side double ended felt tips. I know her stationary supply is already overflowing but it was her birthday and I couldn't help myself.

And the best bit - A huge smile, hug and Thank you mummy I love it. More than I could ask for.
AND to top it off, she sat and wrote a short story on it straight away. How wonderful that I could inspire this. Happy Birthday my girl x

A little bit of shopping

I was doing some quick shopping in the morning after school drop off..... just some usual things and even some boring chores. The shopping centre was busy and I'd had enough and I was just on my way out when I passed a little boutique shoe shop with the cutest window display. I couldn't not stop and take a peek, it would be unfair to the shoes if I just passed them by.

Tried them on, loved them and bought them!
I deserved it. And funnily enough I left the centre with such a wide smile, I felt wonderful, walking on air with my new purchase in hand :)

sewing creations continue

I cant keep away from the machine and I am loving mixing up the fabrics.
This dress is for one of my neices for Christmas. I love this fabric. And my son tried it on for size!
I have really got the hang of making bias too which is making the projects alot quicker and neater.

We also had another birthday party today and I made another colour on the go but altered it slightly, adding handles so it looks like a purse, and i sewed it inside out and flipped it instead of using a bias border. It WORKED and the birthday girl loved it, along with some mums and I have four more orders!

Christmas creations continue

The spirit is flowing, lights on the house, a merry christmas sign in the window, advent calendar in full swing and three batches of rocky road down!
My next craft was a wreath for the door. A fabric one of course.

I am so pleased with the outcome. It seemed I was cutting strips forever, then it all came together quite quickly and suddenly there was a beautiful wreath for our front door.

I also made some note boards for christmas cards and the like for the mantle.
I thought it tidied it up nicely

My Girl

The long awaited dance concert was finally here. 4 Costumes - Check, Hair up - check, makeup - check and FRONT ROW seats CHECK!
She was so beautiful up there and her enthusiasm was radiating from the stage.

After 5 hours of dancers dancing, we went home to watch our video footage! I can see such improvement in her from last year and I love how much she loves it.

Also this week was her honour assembly and again I was such a proud mum watching her receive her award. Funnily I found myself watching so intently and taking pics I couldn't remember what her award was for!

Let the entertaining begin

Finally a table

We are set for entertaining! 10 chairs and an extendable table. Its ready and waiting for a swell shindig!

Along with finding a table I found a new dairy treat for us! I had smarties left over from my little teacups I made. I am not use to being able to cook with suh fancy treats... Then I realised - We can now eat these, lets bake some cookies.
The kids LOVED them and they didnt last long.

Smartie Cookies
150g butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup caster sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 & 1/2 cups self raising flour
smarties

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C
beat butter and sugar until light and creamy. then add vanilla and beat until combined
add flour and stir until combined.
Then I rolled small teaspoons into a ball, flattened them on a tray and pressed smarties into the top.
pop into the oven for about 15 minutes or till  browned.

Enjoy x

more sewing, more bags!

Remember that kniting group I joined? (dont ask how the knitting is going, though I was looking at the beautiful green wool the other day, such a lovely green) Well my friend who invited me along inspired me to make her a knitting needle holder/bag. The materials jumped out of the cupboard at me and looked so cosy and lovely together and my friend Loved it. I used the underlying principles of the crayon roll but altered it slightly to make it work woth the needles. It was less labour intensive too ( this helped in an effort to finish before I popped back to pick up my daughter and ended with dinner being cooked for me!)

And another first.....
Finally a clutch bag. I love this funky fabric and am pleased with my effort.
It is still a little rough...

BUT I managed to put in a small zipper pocket which I think was quite impressive!

Its beginning to look alot like christmas

We took a quick trip after school into the city to visit Santas Place in Myer. It was very exciting with a train ride, santa mail and even a special sitting with santa by his fireplace with rudolph sleeping at his feet. And finally, I got my kids picture with Santa! I know it is suppose to be tradition every year but it was never top of my list. But this year we went all out with a photo on Santas knee AND a pic riding the train. Toot Toot.

We got home and the christmas cheer continued with a roast dinner in the oven and putting up the tree and decorations, complete with flashing lights out the front and a christmas banner in the window.
Ho Ho Ho
I let the kids do the tree and it was a joy to watch them. It looks beautiful, what a lovely time of year.

Wonder whats in the advent calendar tomorrow morning?!
