Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween
Do you just love these lanterns my girl and I made. And she taught me, which was alot of fun together.
Its a slight fire hazard! but they were fun to make and look really effective dont you think.
We were invited to trick or treat with some friends and the kids were very enthusiastic, could have been the lollie thing maybe!

It was their first time but they were not shy! And after only 4 houses, their bags were FULL.
To top it off we got home just before the storm hit. A perfect time all round.

The Store

Can I grab you your size!
My second last assignment done. I quite enjoyed making this in the end even though I felt alot of angst during the lead up. It seemed to be on my mindfor weeks and i had so many ideas and then I just decided to let it go... off with the wind and see what returned!
It was spring, so a spring design. And of course what fun to make a shoe store with Barbie shoes.
I managed to score a pack of barbie wares off ebay and my daughter is in heaven with all the bits and bobs to play with.
4 weeks to go and the last assignment!

HELLO Machine.... ready, dress go!

FINALLY I got back into the sewing. It felt wonderful, cutting out the pattern and putting it together. I made a dress for my girl with the sweet heart material she chose. Its just a simple design and took no time at all. It looks so sweet and comfortable. Was perfect for the hot sunny weather we woke up to this morning.
I also made a second one for a little friend. I added a frill flower to the front to give it that something extra!
And of course every girl needs a matching outfit for their cabbage patch doll. So on our arrival home, just making it in the door seconds before the storm hit, I quickly whipped up a little dress for Selena Clarissa.

Now they are relaxing on the couch after an exciting day in the park, looking stylish in their new dresses!

3

It was a full moon, 3.23pm, 3 weeks early and weighing in at 3kgs, my neice is welcomed to the world.
Evie Rose

Evie is just gorgeous and has the most beautiful lips. We were all in a bit of shock at the early arrival but this did not hamper the enthusiasm and excitement. So many exciting adventures ahead and the cousins are anticipating lots of fun fun fun.

Now, my turn...

My mum always sewed for us, mostly clothes. And has continued for mine and my sisters kids too, though not so frequently anymore. So I am the lucky receipiant of some of her patterns. I am excited and nervous about trying them. Waiting for the right time to get them out.
While we were away in the country, I came across a hidden gem. A country fabric store with an amazing range of material. I of course could not help myself and spent a good hour in there touching and looking and gooing and gaaing!
The next day I snuck in with the credit card..... the decisions were tough, but I got some pretty stuff.
See the pretty waffle cotton...

When I got home I realised I am going through a bit of a green phase with my selection. Maybe it was the country surroundings influencing my colour palate.
I am extremely keen to sew again, and even have a few orders for things (EXCITING) but I am close to finishing my course and need to design a rug and light before I can start up the machine!
Oh Machine...I will return

A basket made for country picnics

We have just arrived home from a little trip out to the country to visit family.  The weather was divine.
We all really enjoyed the country air, good food and great company. I think not being at home in routine was really relaxing.
We ventured out to visit a country fair. A beautiful sunny day, local artwork/sculptures, plenty of handmade wares, car boot style stands and a Mr whippy van!
Whilst in town, unexpectedly, I found the most beautiful basket that I was not leaving without. It has been well kept and is just what I have been searching for, the kind that will fit lots of yummy home baked goodies for a day out.

The only decision left is where to take it first?!

M for Mum!

I finally attempted a skirt for my girl and I am so pleased with the result. Its quite sweet and it fits and most importantly brings a smile to her face.
I also fell in love with this retro material the other day and thought it would be fun to make a little something for myself. I have ALWAYS wanted a top with my initial on it - like Laverne from Laverne and Shirly!
Well, mine turned out a little louder than the inspiration! but I love it and am keen to make a matching clutch purse, though will need to source some co-ordinating fabric!

Grand final fever

The end of another season. From the enthusiasm of the first round, game after game, some you win, some you dont... and then there were only two teams left to battle it out for the winning trophy. A great reason for a family gathering.

The Menu:
Herb flavoured Breadtwists to start
A Bbq selection of meat and sausages with a garden salad and crispy potatoes, bread rolls on the side
Berry and cream tarts served with caramel, chocolate swirl icecream

The icecream was so rich but alot of fun and really easy to make and eat - yummo

And of course we need a refreshing beveridge to accompany the grand final menu
Lemon and Honey Iced Tea

I boiled up a pot of honey and lemon tea. Let it cool completely.
Into a jug Pour
1/3 tea
2/3rds lemonade
a lemon ring and fresh mint
delicious

I had some melted chocolate left over from the cream tarts (I placed a layer of chocolate between the pastry and cream) so decided to make some freckles for the kids.
They were gone pretty quick.
