The arrival....

Such excitement at the door today as one of my books I had ordered arrived. I have been silently sweating on them arriving and to receive this most beautiful book this morning (after a beautiful sleep-in, Thank u my love) was just lovely. It feels so new and smooth. The pictures are lovely, though the instructions look a little ominous! but I'll give it a go.

Today I concentrated on colour homework, which earned me some sewing time tonite. I finally made the kids each a special heat bag as they seem to be having 'sore' tummies at the same time and my special pillow is causing more discomfort than comfort! I cant wait to see their faces in the morning :)

Finally..the bag

What I thought would be a quick creative process became a riddle! I cut the material, chose the cotton, decided on a little something to add to the front.... first step check. second step What The??!! I couldn't see the light. I then doubted myself that maybe I had completed step one incorrectly.
I looked, I shifted, I turned it upside down. I re-read the steps. I walked away for awhile, then I searched the net for answers!
Finally I saw the light and am so pleased this afternoon I finished it and I love it.

And I thought I needed to bake. We usually always have baked goodies in the house due to the kids allergies though during the move it has been harder to find the time at the moment. No time like the present for some egg and dairy free jammie drops with a slight twist of banana flavoured custard powder. They didnt last the day! except two that were eaten on the way to rugby the next morning. :)

Let the Dolphin Swim

My beautiful girl has outdone herself today graduating from goldfish to Dolphin at swimming. Such a dedicated little swimmer, she makes me so proud. So of course dinner this evening was Skye's choice... mmm fish n chips from Hooked, yummy.

The Sewing continues....

Years ago I was at a market and was quite taken with a young girls stall who designed unique pieces of clothing. I finally decided to purchase a funky belt unlike anything I had seen before. I thought I was the biz with this new addition to my wardrobe, though it became apparent after a few outings, people just didnt seem to get it!
My friend Magz gets it, so I decided to make her one with this funky material.

And of course Sally, Skye's favourite dolly needs some new outfits! I started with just a simple skirt for her. Think she needs a matching top which I will hopefully get to soon.

Next of course.... After making the bag from martha's site, the pattern inspired me to make a bib for my brothers baby to be. I was unsure about the size of the neck till my girl put it on her neck! so I am sure it will fit the babies!

I was showing my friend the aprons I had made and she was very keen that her sister would also like them and asked me to make one for her sister as a b'day gift. I found it a challenge to buy fabric without knowing the person first, but I thought it turned out quite cute and made a matching bag for it to be kept in. Quite cute I think.

EXPO EXCITING

Sunday Morning, a lazy sleep-in, in preparation for a big afternoon - Craft Expo with my crafty couz Jo. It was my first and you can be assured it wont be my last! The amazing array of displays of craft and colour were so inspiring, making my mind buzz with ideas! AND the array of fabrics made me drool. Was especially exciting to be able to touch and feel the fabrics I have been browsing through on the net (and even a sneaky purchase!)

I'm not sure if I am ready to take the Quilting challenge, but the display of quilts were beautiful. The thought of some taking 10 yrs to complete is a nurturing feeling, the time and love put into the work of the quilts. This was one of my favourites, one I would put on my bed, in springtime I think.

I am halfway through my course and thought I would share just a snippet of my work. Got out in the sunshine on the weekend and painted some ranges. I have lots of design work to do during the holidays but am feeling inspired and looking forward to it.

I am man..Hear me MOW!

With the move came a wonderous yard, front and back.... begging for my man to get his own yard tools to look after his terrain.
After some quick power research, he is a proud owner of a lawnmower and hedgetrimmer. I am quite eager to get out the back and make a
herb garden and even give the veggie patch a go. My poor roses are down to one! But the one is thriving against the odds. I have found some roses growing in the front garden too which I cant wait to tender to.

And how gorgeous are the pair of boys together - priceless.

Sewing Mad!

This new machine is keeping me busy, I cant sit still but to create something new. I couldn’t wait to make some aprons, and they came with the bonus joy of picking out the fabric. That process took me longer than I thought it would, but it was lovely thinking of someone and trying to find them in fabrics.

My beautiful cousin Jo is getting married next year which inspired my next creation. When I was married (many moons ago!!) my mother gave me her garter to wear which her mother hade made for her. I of course felt the need to make Jo one. No plan, just thought I would wing it. Bought some elastic, pretty white fabric, lace and ribbon. Then created what you see. Hope she loves it

Then I was browsing Martha Stewarts website and found this great bag to make. Such a cute different style, I had to try it and had the perfect fabric for it.

It took no time at all and off to the shops to do the groceries with a flick of my hair and a kick in my step as I walked round with my new fashion accessory!

Baking and Homemaking

Today I got the time and the want. Those last few boxes starring at me, "unpack me unpack me", well I did just that... to most of them and the last few were shuffled left, shuffled right! I got out the sewing machine and bam I was off.... 3 yes, 3 projects finished, started and finished!Firstly I made a bag for the growing mound of plastic bags. Elasticised at the top and bottom and fits in all (or most of) my bag collection.
With this project completed so fast I was hot on the heels of my second endeavour.
A foam cushion cover for the love seat. Sew sew sew and walla finally the love seat has a cushion that is comfy and stylish.

I then decided to quickly bake a pineapple cake for the boys.
Yummy.... still getting used to this oven but none the less a yummy treat.

The third project was a door snake – sand filled to cover up the back door. Not bad I say.

I had so much fun creating these and even fitted in a quick game of cricket in our backyard. So glad the rain has finally stopped and the kids got to really enjoy their new backyard.
Its late now..... off to bed

MY 32nd BIRTHDAY

WHat a wonderful start to the day, waking to two beautiful smiling faces, bearing the most thoughtful perfect gifts.
Funny thing, two years ago I cringed at the thought of my birthday, couldnt believe I was turning 30. But somehow I grew into my age! and now was floating on air at the thought of it being my day.
How devine.
